Visitors to Salt Lake City are often astonished at its beauty as well as the friendliness of its residents. There is plenty of culture and history in SLC, and the city offers multiple transportation options for while you’re in town. 

Salt Lake City Airport Transportation Options

If you are flying into Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), you have several options for getting into the city or wherever your final destination may be. 

Public transportation: Take the airport shuttle from the ground level arrivals area to the TRAX/Light Rail Station, and you’ll be taken into downtown Salt Lake City. Buses into town are also available Monday through Friday. 

Taxi and ride share: Taxis and pre-arranged ride share pickups, such as Uber and Lyft, are available on the ground level of the airport.

Shuttle and private car services: Rental car companies, hotels, and off-site parking services offer free shuttles that can take you from the airport to your car, parking area, or accommodations. You can also book a group shuttle or private car service before your trip or when you get to the airport.

Alternate Methods of Transportation in Salt Lake City

After you get into the city and are settled at your destination, you’ll want to start exploring. Fortunately, Salt Lake City has a robust public transportation system that can get you to most places within the city, as well as throughout the metropolitan area. Other options include bike rentals and car sharing.

Salt Lake City has plenty of options for getting both around and out-of-town:

Commuter trains: Heading out to Ogden or Provo? FrontRunner commuter trains from Salt Lake City will take you to either of these communities Monday through Saturday. 

Buses: The bus system connects riders to train and light rail stations and the transportation systems in nearby communities. If you plan to do some skiing while in Utah, buses will also take you to nearby slopes during the winter months. 

Light Rail: Salt Lake City’s light rail system operates throughout the city and is available seven days a week.
