Best tacos in Miami

You don’t need to travel far to find excellent tacos in Miami. With plenty of cultural influence from all over the caribbean and Central America, Miami is a hotbed of culinary fusion. From creative taco takes with fresh-caught seafood to savory dipped delights like birria red tacos, here are the best spots to do Taco Tuesday in Miami.

Coyo Taco

This casual, upscale taqueria boasts to be Miami’s freshest street food experience. While it’s not technically a street stand, this trendy staple does have incredibly colorful, refreshing tacos, burrito bowls, and appetizers. Coyo specializes in fresh seafood tacos, which in a coastal city like Miami is a must-have. Coyo also has a full bar with margaritas, aguas frescas, cocktails, and more. Their success in Miami has led them to expand to the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Portugal.

El Primo Red Tacos

‘Red Tacos’ refer to birria tacos dipped in birria broth, giving them a reddish tinge. These incredibly savory, juicy tacos are unmatched. El Primo serves them up on fresh, crispy tortillas with birria slow-cooked for hours inside its own fat, tomatoes, and special seasoning. Don’t make any plans after eating El Primo, you’ll need a solid hour or two to wait out the food coma. It’s totally worth it though, and if you’re able to make it on Tuesday, El Primo has a two-for-one special.

Jacalito Taqueria Mexicana

This unassuming Mexican taqueria packs tons of personality and amazingly authentic eats. Their menu has items like “Pollo de la basura” (trash chicken) and despite the name, it’s incredibly tasty. At $8 for 3 tacos, Jacalito is an absolute steal, and you can wash it all down with aguas frescas, horchatas, cane sugar sodas, or a savory Michelada. Don’t let the low-res images on their website fool you, this lowkey eatery has over 1,000 five star reviews.

Taquiza

Taquiza’s tagline is “always grinding” and it’s no surprise that they’re deemed as the “casa de masa”, referring to their signature blue masa tortillas made fresh daily. Taquiza is a must-visit. Not only is the food incredible, but the deep-blue tortillas provide a beautiful backdrop that makes their fresh, colorful veggies pop. You’ll really wow your instagram feed with these.

Tacos El Carnal

How do you know Tacos El Carnal is going to be good? They don’t even have a website. This hole-in-the-wall taco joint in little Havana serves up all the hits: barbacoa, lengua, carne asada, and al pastor. Tacos are served without frills, fresh cooked meat between warm corn tortillas, with a solid handful and a half of cilantro and onions served on the side to sprinkle atop on your own.
